Children’s Christmas Celebration
Not even COVID can cancel Christmas. Yes our Rotary Club will make sure that over 500 children will have filled tummies and smiles on their faces this Christmas. The annual signature event of our Rotary Club will take place on Thursday December 17th, 2020. It will look different as we cannot gather altogether in the gym as in the past. We are finalizing the plans but we will still be delivering books and gifts to all the children as well as a traditional hot turkey dinner with all the fixings.
We are exceeding Public Heath requirements to keep everyone safe while still being able to make magic happen for the children. We will need a few volunteers to help with packing and wrapping, assist with food packaging and delivery at the school. More details about the volunteer needs and opportunities will be forthcoming. We will be requiring volunteers to wear a mask, sanitize their hands and be well. Most of the activity will take place outdoors for additional safety. Please mark your calendars for December 16th for the packing & wrapping and December 17th for the magical event.
Today we officially launch our annual Virtual Stockings fundraising campaign. As you can imagine, with all the additional protocols and individual packaging of meals the costs this year are higher, so we need every Rotarian and Friend of Rotary’s help. Here is how you can help;
- Visit www.rotaryclubhamilton.ca and get your Virtual Stockings. Each donation of $20 feeds 2 children and you get a tax receipt
- Why not consider being a sponsor – Elf Sponsors help cover the costs of feeding a classroom of children
- Share the information with friends and family and encourage them to get a Virtual Stocking
- Social Media – we need your help in liking, sharing and commenting on our posts over the next few weeks
Together we can make magic happen in a different way for these children. The pandemic has cancelled so much this year for them, so it is so important that we as Rotarians step up and make this a special event. There will be books, treats and yes a hot turkey dinner on December 17th! Christmas is not cancelled thanks to each of you!! Let’s make magic happen!
