ROTARY FOREVER FUND
Our fund is known as the Rotary Forever Fund – a name that goes to the heart of the purpose behind it. This is our opportunity to leave a legacy to Rotary – and our community – by supporting a permanent fund that is housed at Hamilton Community Foundation. Grants and donations to Rotary causes will be made on an annual basis from the investment income of the Rotary Forever Fund, at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
The Rotary Club of Hamilton has become the first to launch an endowment fund with Hamilton Community Foundation. There are two options for making a gift to the Rotary Forever Fund: as an immediate donation from a living donor, or as a bequest identified in a person’s will. All gifts are pooled and invested. The capital is left untouched and only the investment income is disbursed to support Rotary projects and initiatives, as decided by the club’s Board of Directors.
“With the creation of this fund at Hamilton Community Foundation, we’re giving people a unique opportunity to leave a legacy that supports the work of Rotary,” says Christopher Cutler, Club Past President “In our club alone we have members with decades of service to Rotary; we can now offer them a way to benefit the club’s projects forever.” In addition, the fund is “open,” meaning that Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike can contribute.
You may wish to consider using the fund as a vehicle for individual cash donations, and many of you have and continue to do this in honour or memory of someone special to you. We have also created a special recognition opportunity for those who make a planned gift (a bequest through their will or insurance) to the Rotary Forever Fund; such donors will be known as members of “The Broadfoot Circle.” This name is in honour of our late club member, Rick Broadfoot.
The Rotary Club still undertakes annual fundraising campaigns and events such as Rotary Fall Classic Golf Tournament or Laughs 4 Literacy. Monies raised from those and other initiatives help to fund literacy programs and other supports aimed at underprivileged youth.
As our Rotary Club enters another century of service, the Rotary Forever Fund allows us to pay tribute to our long serving members, and continue to serve and support the many projects and initiatives of our Rotary Club. The Rotary Forever Fund is an opportunity to leave a legacy, recognize and memorialize individuals in perpetuity.
