Guest Speaker: Linda Granfield is the author of over thirty non-fiction titles for adults and young readers and has received more than fifty awards for her history books. She is best known for her books about war and remembrance. She has spoken to over a million children across Canada, and to audiences on First Nations reserves, in one-room libraries, and in the shadow of a Spitfire at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.

Linda has been a consultant for documentary films including Nanking, an on-air commentator for the CBC during Remembrance Week, and an historical advisor for the Royal Canadian Air Force. Linda was a member of the Task Force for the 100th Anniversary of “In Flanders Fields.”

She is currently writing the first draft of a book about Nanking in 1937 for adult readers—the culmination of twenty years of research—and is now completing the layout pages for The Vimy Oaks, her latest non-fiction title. The book commemorates the 100th anniversary of The Battle of Vimy Ridge in 2017 and celebrates the oaks planted by a Canadian soldier-farmer in Scarborough, Ontario, after the First World War.
