Discover Rotary: Join Us for a Social Event at Collective Arts Brewery on September 27th!

Are you looking to get more involved in your community? Want to make new friends while also giving back? The Rotary Club of Hamilton is here to offer you just that opportunity, and we’re inviting you to join us for an evening of connection, learning, and fun! On September 27th at 5 PM, we will be hosting a social event at Collective Arts Brewery in Hamilton. It’s a great chance for anyone curious about Rotary to come out and see what we’re all about.

The evening will be led by Laura Farr, our current President, and Cathi MacDonnell, our Past President and Assistant District Governor 7090. Both Laura and Cathi are incredible leaders with a deep commitment to both Rotary and the Hamilton community. They will be sharing more about the Rotary Club’s mission and what makes us stand out—not just as a local service club but as part of a global movement to improve the world.

So, why should you attend this event? Here are a few great reasons:

1. Learn About Rotary’s Impact

Rotary isn’t just a club; it’s a global network of people who care about making a difference. From organizing local literacy programs and providing meals for children in need to helping with international initiatives, Rotary members are people who see problems and work to solve them.

The Rotary Club of Hamilton was founded in 1913 and has been an essential part of the community ever since. We run programs that touch thousands of lives each year, including:

Rotary Summer Literacy Camp: Every summer, we host free camps that help kids develop essential reading and writing skills.

Christmas Gifts and Meals: We ensure that every child in our community has a reason to smile during the holiday season. Our Christmas Stockings for Kids and Operation Santa Claus initiatives have become local traditions.

The CHML Children’s Fund: We’ve recently taken over managing this fantastic initiative that includes raising funds to light up the city with the Tree of Hope Lighting Ceremony and ensuring that gifts are donated to those in need during the holidays.

These are just a few examples of what we do, and there’s so much more! By attending this event, you’ll get a firsthand look at how Rotary makes an impact in our community and beyond.

2. Meet Like-Minded People

Hamilton is full of vibrant, passionate people who care about giving back, and many of them are already involved in Rotary. This social event is a great chance to meet some of these individuals, hear their stories, and perhaps even become part of this dynamic community.

If you’ve been looking to expand your social circle, Rotary is a great place to start. We come from all walks of life—teachers, business owners, retirees, and students—but we share a common goal: to make Hamilton and the world a better place. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the city, you’re welcome to join us and see what it’s like to be part of a club that truly makes a difference.

3. Discover How You Can Give Back

One of the misconceptions about Rotary is that it’s all about donating money. While fundraising is an important part of what we do, Rotary offers so many other ways to contribute. You can volunteer your time, use your skills to help organize events, or even just lend a helping hand when needed. The point is that everyone has something to offer. Being part of Rotary is about finding your way to give back—whether it’s through leadership, mentorship, or simple acts of kindness.

At this event, you’ll have the opportunity to speak with current members, ask questions, and find out how you can get involved in a way that suits your lifestyle and interests. We’re always looking for people who want to contribute in any way they can, and no contribution is too small!

4. Enjoy a Great Evening Out

Of course, we can’t forget to mention that this event is happening at Collective Arts Brewery, one of Hamilton’s most popular spots. Known for its delicious craft beers and creative vibe, Collective Arts is the perfect place to kick back, relax, and enjoy a drink with friends—old and new!

This is a casual, welcoming event. Whether you’re an experienced Rotarian or have never heard of Rotary before, you’ll feel right at home. There’s no pressure to commit to anything—just come out and have a great time while learning more about who we are and what we do.

5. How to Join Us

We’d love to see you there! If you’re interested, all you need to do is register online at rotaryclubhamilton.ca. It’s free to attend, and there’s no obligation to join—just come and learn more about Rotary and meet some amazing people.
