We are launching our annual Sunshine Fund Members Appeal. Unlike some other Rotary Clubs, the Rotary Club of Hamilton has a charitable arm called the Rotary Sunshine Fund. This allows our Rotary Club to issue tax receipts through this charitable corporation.
Our Rotary Club’s Board of Directors has designated that our Club membership activities not use charitable funds. This is one of the reasons our Membership Dues are higher than other Rotary Clubs – we cover all costs of membership from our dues and do not use our charitable funds or special event revenue to subsidize our members. Membership dues cover all the costs of being a Rotarian meaning that 100% of the funds raised in our Sunshine Fund support children, youth and families in our community.
We are proud that the funds raised during special events like our Rotary Fall Golf Classic and the Sunshine Members Appeal support children’s charities – 100% of every dollar!!!
Rather than hold another special event, we use March as our Sunshine Fund Members Appeal Campaign month. No tickets to sell, no event to go to. A simple donation, a tax receipt and the knowledge knowing your dollars are making a difference in the lives of so many.
We have made it easier for Rotarians and friends of Rotarians to support the Sunshine Fund. Donations can be made easily and securely on our website www.rotaryclubhamilton.ca. Once the donation is processed, you will receive your tax receipt immediately! Our goal for the 2018 campaign is to raise over $5000 and to have 100% of our membership participate.
We also offer easy monthly donations – yes for about 75 cents a day – less than the cost of a coffee, you can help give the gift of literacy, provide a nutritional snack to a child or help a child receive eye glasses to improve their eye sight. Month donations of $10, $20 and other levels are available and can be billed to your credit card each month…. Making it easier to support the great work of Rotary.

$50 a month gives the Gift of Literacy – Summer Literacy Camp for a week for two families
