At its core, Rotary is about service — but if you’ve been around long enough, you know it’s also about connection.
As the incoming President of the Rotary Club of Hamilton, I recently had the opportunity to attend an event in Brampton where Premier Doug Ford shared the province’s vision for economic growth and development. It was a proud moment to stand alongside my associate and fellow Rotarian, Badar, who is also a dedicated member of the Brampton Board of Trade.
The energy in the room wasn’t just about politics or business forecasts — it was about people. Community leaders, entrepreneurs, and volunteers coming together to talk about real solutions and opportunities for the future of Ontario.
Rotary has always had this unique strength: the ability to bring people together across cities, professions, and cultures with a shared mission to make the world just a little bit better.
Whether you’re in downtown Hamilton or in a boardroom in Brampton, the Rotary spirit is the same — we roll up our sleeves, find common ground, and get to work.
That’s the beauty of Rotary. We’re not just a club in a city. We’re part of a global network of like-minded changemakers, all focused on tackling real-world challenges — from food insecurity to youth programming, literacy to clean water. And in between, we manage to build friendships, host the occasional pancake breakfast, and yes, we even light the Christmas tree in Gore Park (we’re multi-talented like that).
As we move forward into this next Rotary year, I’m excited to focus on expanding partnerships, growing our impact, and continuing to connect with other clubs across the province and beyond. The problems we face may be big, but our collective heart is bigger — and that’s the Rotary advantage.
If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now is a great time to learn more. Whether you’re looking to give back, expand your network, or just want an excuse to hang out with some genuinely great people who also happen to get stuff done — Rotary welcomes you.
