A Big Hamilton Thank You to Our World of Choices Mentors

Yesterday, more than 200 Grade 7 and 8 students from Cathy Wever Elementary and St. Ann Catholic School stepped into a room full of possibility. The Rotary Club of Hamilton’s World of Choices Career Exploration Day brought local professionals face to face with the next generation of Hamiltonians, and the energy in the room was something to see.

We want to take a moment, publicly and sincerely, to thank every mentor who showed up.

You gave your time. You gave your stories. You gave honest answers to big questions. And you did it on a regular workday because you believed it mattered.

It did.

The careers represented covered an impressive range, but what stood out most was the authenticity in every conversation. Mentors talked about the wins, the wrong turns, and the lessons that shaped them. Students heard, often for the first time, that success is rarely a straight line. It is built through curiosity, perseverance, and a willingness to keep learning.

That message lands differently when it comes from someone living it.

Because of you, more than 200 young people in our city walked out of the day feeling more informed, more confident, and more capable of imagining their own future.

This Is What Rotary Looks Like in Hamilton

Not just meetings and minutes. Real people showing up for real kids in real classrooms.

World of Choices is one example of the work our club is proud to support. It sits alongside programs like the Rotary Summer Literacy Camp, the Children’s Christmas Celebration, COREKids, Junior Achievement financial literacy programs, and the continuation of Operation Santa Claus. Different programs, same idea: invest in this community, especially the young people growing up in it.

Thank You

To every mentor who joined us, thank you. You made yesterday count for these students, and you reminded all of us why this club has been part of Hamilton since 1913.

To the teachers, staff, and administrators at Cathy Wever and St. Ann who helped make the day possible, thank you as well. Days like this only work because of partnerships like yours.

And to anyone reading this who has ever wondered what Rotary is really about, this is it. Service above self. Community first. Hamilton, always.
