Rotary Summer Literacy Program
For over 20 years, this free, literacy-focused camp has helped bridge the summer learning gap for students in Hamilton’s priority neighbourhoods. Hosted at Woodlands Park, the program combines reading activities, creative expression, and mentorship in a fun and inclusive environment. It ensures that children return to school in the fall with stronger skills, more confidence, and a renewed enthusiasm for learning.
Backpacks for Success
Although no longer an active program, Backpacks for Success remains part of our legacy of removing economic barriers to education. By ensuring students had the essentials—like notebooks, pencils, and storybooks—Rotary helped set the tone for a school year where every child could feel prepared and dignified.
Today, this same spirit continues through other school readiness and literacy resource initiatives that reflect our commitment to youth development.
