The Rotary Summer Literacy Program, a free program will run for two weeks from Monday July 11th to 22nd, 2022 at Pauline Johnson School (25 Hummingbird Lane) from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Free transportation will be provided for students at Cathy Wever School. Bus pick up will take place daily between 8:15 am and 8:25 am and drop off between 12:50 pm and 1:00 pm at Cathy Wever School.
Program participants will join our staff from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Friday. The Rotary Summer Literacy Program focuses on literacy, engaging participants with modeled, shared, guided, and independent reading and writing activities. Our program helps to maintain your child’s literacy skills. Over the course of a day, your child will also experience various day camp activities through our program options (listed below). Rotary Summer Literacy’s main goal is to ensure educational activities and experiences are fun for everyone!
Rotary Summer Literacy 2022 will offer the following Program Options:
Sports and Games
Get active this summer: Floorball, basketball, and soccer are standard! We take these classic activities and add a mix of classic camp games.
Learn to be a real-life guitar hero, vocal legend or instrumental phenomena. Participants will enjoy a fun-filled session of exploring, creating, and performing music!
Is hip-hop your thing? Ever wondered about ballet? Boogie down and get your groove on with our dynamic dance ensemble!
All primary/junior students in Hamilton currently in Grades K – 5 are invited!

9:50 am – Reflect Relate Retell Activity

11:55 am – Community Challenge
12:10 pm – Closing Read-Aloud
12:25 pm – Dismissal
The City of Hamilton, Hamilton Public Library, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Rotary Club of Hamilton sponsor the Rotary Summer Literacy Program. Parents are responsible for providing a snack and transportation for their child(ren).
