Happy Thanksgiving to all! As many of us sit down to enjoy a turkey dinner with friends and family, we as Rotarians should take a few moments to reflect. Thanksgiving gives us an opportunity to celebrate with friends and family over a meal, while there are lonely people without a roof over their head and a hot meal on their table.
Rotarians are thankful for the opportunity to serve and represent our professions. We know of many causes, many opportunities to volunteer, and we know that members in our Rotary Club have made a huge impact in our local & international communities.
We as Rotarians should be thankful that…..
The Eradication of Polio in the world is almost completed. There are only two countries that have active cases of Polio, and it is Rotary who has helped and will continue the fight until we have complete the task, to rid the world of Polio
We as Rotarians should be thankful that…..
That each day, inner city children have a safe place to participate in a free after school program. These children have a chance to get homework help, a nutritious snack, play, learn and have fun at the WAVE After School Program
We as Rotarians should be thankful that…..
We support literacy. The Rotary Summer Literacy programs offers children from across Hamilton the opportunity to maintain and increase their literacy levels during the summer and we are part of the Telling Tales Festival celebrating literacy.
We as Rotarians should be thankful that…..
We invest in young people. We have been involved in RYLA, Slap Shot and hosted exchange students. We continue to mentor and support young people through our EarlyAct and Rotaract Clubs
We as Rotarians should be thankful that…..
We have the opportunity to meet each week, hear a speaker, network and enjoy the fellowship of Rotarians. We have many riches to share with each other.
We as Rotarians should be thankful that…..
We have the ability to raise the funds needed and the time and ability to support programs that make a difference in the lives of children & families in our local & international communities
We as Rotarians should be thankful that…..
We can achieve our motto each day “Service Above Self”
There are many who are thankful for that Rotarians this Thanksgiving Day. We are thankful for our dedicated and committed Rotary members helping create positive change around the world.
