The Rotary Club of Hamilton is proud to support the ethical dilemma contest at Westview middle school. This program, which was originally put together by the Mountain Rotary Club which merged with Rotary Club of Hamilton in 2021, provides an excellent opportunity for young students to develop critical thinking skills and explore complex ethical issues.
We want to congratulate all of the participants in this year’s contest, and especially the winner. It is clear that these students put a great deal of time and effort into their submissions, and we are thrilled to see such a high level of engagement and enthusiasm from the youth in our community.
The ethical dilemma contest is just one of the many programs that the Rotary Club of Hamilton supports through our Inner City & Youth Initiatives Committee (ICYIC). Our goal is to foster youth development, particularly when it comes to literacy, in the City of Hamilton. We recognize the importance of adapting our supportive programs for children throughout the city, and we are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of young people in our community.
It is particularly noteworthy that many of the submissions to the ethical dilemma contest did not involve a chatGPT to help write or structure the layout. This is a testament to the importance of continuing education to learn the merits of how to build an essay and put together a properly structured summary of thought. We believe that programs like this help to build essential skills that will serve these students well in the future.
The Rotary Club of Hamilton is proud to support initiatives that empower young people to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. We congratulate all of the participants in the ethical dilemma contest and encourage them to continue to engage with important ethical issues throughout their lives. We are committed to supporting youth development in Hamilton and look forward to seeing the positive impact these young people will have on our community in the years to come.
