Tonight, we celebrate. The annual Rotary Celebration Event takes place this evening at the Dundas Valley Golf & Country Club.
It is an opportunity for our Rotary Club to pause and acknowledge the outstanding work and contributions that our club makes in our local & international communities. It is an opportunity to recognize the contributions and Service Above Self of our two award recipients through a Paul Harris Fellowships Awards being presented tonight.
We have the opportunity tonight to thank our Rotary President, Nancy Baker for her commitment to Rotary and leadership as club President. We will enjoy the longstanding tradition of the Passing of the President`s Pin from Nancy to incoming President Heather Moroz. It would not be a night of celebration without the fellowship of Rotarians and friends
The 2018-19 Rotary year has been an inspiration! A year filled with projects and initiatives and many hands-on service projects. Many small acts that made a huge impact on the lives of over 4,500 children and youth in our community.
Over the next week we will be featuring some of the photos of the many projects and initiatives. We are proud of the many causes we supported this Rotary year including:
- Hands on service projects Socks & Jocks, The Purse Project & Park Clean-up
- $15,000 to support the Vision Cares Project that had a matching District Grant
- Introducing our International Project, the Liberian Learning Centre
- BASEF – Helping 5 teams at the science fair
Our ongoing support of the Books Books Books Project – A book for every child as we distributed over 2000 books and our Rotary Summer Literacy Program offering 3 weeks of free camp experience to children from across Hamilton. Our CORE Kids Program offered free after school programming and a meal and our largest hands on service project the annual Children’s Christmas Celebration filling the tummies of over 750 children.
It has been a very busy Rotary year and tonight we pause to celebrate, remember, recognize and then set forth as we start a new Rotary year on July 1st. Congratulations and Thank You to all the Rotarians, Friends of Rotary, Partners and Volunteers who help our Rotary Club make a difference in the lives of over 4,500 children & youth this year!
