It may sound counter-intuitive, but in the last few years, an increasing number of Hamiltonians have been improving their connection with nature through technology. Low-cost, high-quality cameras, the abundance of GPS on smartphones, and the use of social networks to help document and identify species: birds, butterflies, wildflowers, all sorts. Rob Porter, the Director of Field Events with the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club, and a Co-Founder of local tech company Weever Apps will speak about the convergence of technology and nature both for science and personal enjoyment.
