In the Rotary world, July 1 is not only Canada Day but it is also the start of the Rotary year for every club. Our Rotary Club will be entering it’s 108th year of serving our community.
I am excited and honoured to have the opportunity to serve our Rotary Club as President. The 2020-21 Rotary year will be one filled with many challenges as we pivot and adapt, but we all know that Service Above Self and the great work we do in our local and international communities will continue.
As we meet the challenges during the 2020-21 Rotary Year, I am confident that we will continue to make a difference in the lives of children, youth and their families. I am excited about how we will continue our Rotary Summer Literacy Program this summer…in a new way, and how plans are being made to continue our CORE Kids After School Program in the Fall and looking at a new format for our Rotary Fall Golf Classic fundraiser in September.
Yes, things are changing, and we will be doing things differently but Rotary is Not Cancelled…It’s Just Different! We are looking at putting together a great schedule of programing for our meetings – virtually for now but we will continue to have engaging Rotary Meetings, Projects & Initiatives!
I do hope each of you celebrating Canada Day with family and friends in a safe way! As we move into the Summer months, please take time to enjoy the warm Summer weather and I look forward to the day when we will gather together in person for a service project, a social or a regular Rotary Meeting during the 2020-21 Rotary Year. I am honoured to be your Rotary President. Happy Canada Day and Happy New Rotary Year!
