The Rotary Club of Hamilton stands as a beacon of community engagement, service, and fellowship. As a cornerstone of our community for over 110 years, our club has flourished under dynamic leadership, and we are thrilled to continue this tradition. Today, we officially acknowledge the transition from our dedicated 2022-2023 President, Cathi MacDonell, to the incoming leader for the 2023-2024 tenure, David Elliot.
In reflecting upon Cathi’s presidency, we are reminded of the tireless efforts she poured into serving our community. Her commitment to Rotary’s ethos and values was not only evident in her words but also resonated through her actions. Cathi’s leadership contributed significantly to the successful continuation of several community service programs. Her focus on literacy camps, our annual golf tournament, and the heartwarming Christmas program at Cathy Wever school are a testament to her dedication and will remain a part of her legacy within our club.
Our literacy camp, an initiative close to our hearts, has enabled us to send numerous children on a life-changing journey of discovery and learning. Cathi also leaded us through our yearly golf tournament, an event that fosters camaraderie amongst our members and raises funds for our various philanthropic activities. Under Cathi’s guidance, the Cathy Wever school Christmas program has ensured a warm meal and a meaningful gift for many inner-city children, who otherwise may not have been able to experience the joy of the holiday season.
As we pass the torch to our incoming President David Elliot, we’re imbued with a sense of anticipation and excitement. The club is thrilled about the new leadership that David brings, and we eagerly look forward to the fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and dedication he will provide to our cherished club.
We sincerely thank Cathi for the hard work she has invested over the past year. She has left an indelible mark on our club and has laid a solid foundation for our future endeavours. Her tenure may have ended, but her influence will continue to guide us.
