Hamilton, ON – The Rotary Club of Hamilton Continues the Legacy of Giving with Operation Santa Claus and The Christmas Tree of Hope
The Rotary Club of Hamilton is proud to continue its stewardship of three of Hamilton’s most cherished community initiatives: The Rotary Children’s Fund, The Christmas Tree of Hope, and Operation Santa Claus. Together, these programs have raised more than $6 million since 1976 to support children and families in need across our city.
Now under the continued leadership of Rotary Club of Hamilton President Adam Oldfield, these hallmark initiatives enter their second year with Rotary at the helm—building upon a legacy of compassion, generosity, and community spirit that has defined them for nearly half a century.
President Adam Oldfield shared his enthusiasm for what lies ahead:
“It’s an honour to continue the work that began decades ago with the CHML Christmas Tree of Hope and Operation Santa Claus. Having been involved with this initiative since my early radio days, it’s truly special to see how these traditions continue to bring our community together. Our mission this year is simple: make sure every child in Hamilton receives a toy and feels the joy of the holiday season.”
Toy collection will begin after November 12, with drop-off locations at Hamilton Fire Stations and Eastgate Ford. Donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted until December 15, 2025, ensuring every gift reaches children in time for the holidays.
This year’s festivities include two signature community events:
- Thursday, December 5 – Christmas Tree of Hope Lighting Ceremony in Gore Park, downtown Hamilton.
- Friday, December 6 – Rotary Tree of Hope Blitz Day at Lime Ridge Mall, with live broadcasts from CHML, Energy 95.3, and Y108.
These events celebrate the generosity of Hamiltonians while raising awareness and funds to support local children’s programs throughout the year.
As President Oldfield emphasized, “Every dollar raised stays right here in Hamilton, and every toy donated goes directly into the hands of a child. That’s what makes this truly special—it’s neighbours helping neighbours.”
Founded in 1913, the Rotary Club of Hamilton has a long-standing tradition of service and community leadership. By carrying forward these holiday programs, Rotary is reaffirming its commitment to the values of ‘Service Above Self’ and ensuring that the spirit of giving continues to shine brightly for generations to come.
