Tree of Hope

The CHML Christmas Tree of Hope has been a cherished tradition in Hamilton since its founding in 1976, when it began as a way to bring hope to children and families in need during the holiday season. Over the years, it has grown into a major community event, raising over $6 million to support local children’s charities. Each December, the Christmas Tree of Hope is lit in downtown Hamilton’s Gore Park as a symbol of this ongoing mission, with the Burlington tree also serving as a beacon of hope.

This campaign is not just about lighting a tree—it’s about lighting up lives. 100% of the donations collected through the CHML Children’s Fund go directly back to supporting local families, ensuring that every dollar stays within the community. The event includes the Blitz Day Radiothon and partnerships with media outlets like Y108 and Energy 95.3, expanding its reach and impact. Operation Santa Claus, a connected initiative, collects toys for local children, ensuring every child gets to experience the joy of the holiday season.

As of 2024, the Rotary Club of Hamilton proudly continues this tradition. Under their stewardship, they will uphold the Christmas Tree of Hope’s legacy, encouraging donations and volunteer efforts to maintain its vital role in the community. The Rotary Club’s long-standing history of service ensures that the Christmas Tree of Hope will thrive, and the community will continue to benefit from the generosity it inspires(Y108)(Rotary Club of Hamilton)(Rotary District 7090).

This year and beyond, the Rotary Club of Hamilton invites everyone to participate—whether through a donation, volunteering, or simply attending the tree lighting ceremony—to ensure that the light of hope continues to shine bright for Hamilton’s children. Together, we can keep the spirit of giving alive!
